The peculiarities of the setting of the "Boys and Girls"

     

The setting in this story is seen to set on a secluded country side farm in the 1960’s. During this time women were not seen as being equal to men. The women’s liberation movement of the 1960s was going on during this time, but because the protagonist was living in the country side in do not believe they knew about this information until a later date. The atmosphere of this story really focuses on the farm, and how if influences every character in this story, but really puts emphasis on the character considering her push towards doing outdoor work with her father rather than doing housework with her mother.
